Job Title – Apprentice Plumber (non-domestic) 

What are we looking for?  

We are looking for people with a genuine interest in construction and the built environment. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and ambitious, with the potential to progress to a supervisory / management role over a five-to-ten-year period.  

Role Overview    

A plumber is a trade role that specializes in installing and maintaining systems used for potable (drinking) water, sewage, and drainage in plumbing systems. A Plumber is an essential component of the modular office production process. A Plumber within the production facility will fabricate and install the plumbing for kitchens and sanitary areas.

Apprenticeship level and standard   

Plumbing and domestic heating technician level 3 Plumbing and domestic heating technician / Skills England  

Key deliverables  

  • Learn to install larger-scale and non-domestic plumbing pipework, systems, and appliances, including hot and cold water, sanitary, and rainwater systems. 
  • Support the testing, commissioning, and safe handover of plumbing systems in real workplace environments. 
  • Develop skills in routine servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and repair of non-domestic plumbing installations. 
  • Gain experience in safely disconnecting, dismantling, and decommissioning plumbing systems and equipment. 
  • Build practical, hands-on capability while following industry standards, safety requirements, and best working practices. 

Entry requirements  

  • Eligibility without restrictions to work in the UK.  We cannot offer visa sponsorship. 
  • Full mobility to enable travel to various project locations.  
  • Attainment of three GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English.

The Laing O'Rourke Apprenticeship programme - what can you expect?  

The Trade and Technical Apprenticeship programme provides you with a formal college education, leading to a Level 3 apprenticeship standard in your chosen vocation. You will also gain a broad set of trade technical skills through on-the-job training, supported by our qualified and experienced workforce, and construction professionals. A dedicated mentor and approved training provider will work closely with you, providing regular feedback on your progress towards completing your apprenticeship.
