🌟 We're hiring: Senior Design Manager – Power Sector (Substations)
📍 Initially based from London King's Cross | Moving to site at Letchmore Heath, Elstree

Are you ready to take the lead on a technically complex, high-profile infrastructure project in the power sector? We're looking for an experienced Senior Design Manager to join our team and drive design excellence on the Letchmore Heath Substation project.

As part of Laing O'Rourke's commitment to delivering the UK's energy infrastructure, you'll play a pivotal role during both the pre-construction and delivery phases. You'll lead the design process for a major substation development, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, specialist designers, and our operational teams to ensure we deliver a solution that is safe, compliant, innovative, and buildable.

What you'll be doing:

• Lead design management from pre-construction through delivery.

• Interface with National Grid, design partners, and our site teams to shape a technically assured, value-driven design.

• Coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary design teams, ensuring timely outputs aligned with programme, quality, and compliance.

• Embed Laing O'Rourke's Strategy for Design and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

What we're looking for:

• A chartered Electrical Engineer with significant design experience.

• A strong track record on substation projects.

• Deep understanding of design optimisation, risk management, digital delivery, and statutory/regulatory compliance.

• Someone who leads with confidence, collaborates effectively, and brings clarity in complexity.
