About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Security Vetting Lead to join our team and oversee all aspects of security clearance and compliance processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end vetting process, ensuring best practices, and maintaining compliance with industry and regulatory standards. This role is crucial in a highly sensitive environment, requiring expertise in vetting procedures from Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) to higher level clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the vetting process, ensuring compliance with BPSS and higher level clearance.
- Develop and implement best practices and streamlined processes for security vetting and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations related to personnel security.
- Provide guidance and training to internal teams on vetting and compliance policies.
- Work closely with stakeholders, including government agencies, to facilitate clearance approvals.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring data security and confidentiality.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures for gaining IPSA (International Professional Security Association) accreditation.
- Conduct audits and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all vetting-related inquiries and escalations.
- Manage a small team of vetting coordinators.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in managing security vetting processes, including BPSS and higher level clearance.
- Strong understanding of compliance frameworks within highly sensitive environments.
- Experience in developing and implementing vetting policies and best practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency in security and vetting software systems.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Security or compliance-related certifications.
- Experience working within government, defence, or high-security industries.
- Knowledge of UK security clearance legislation and regulatory requirements.
