Introduction to Building Services Engineering

If you are looking for a stimulating multi-faceted opportunity that incorporates design & engineering, project delivery and manufacturing, then Building Services Engineering, within our Crown House Technologies business could be the career path for you.

Building services engineers work closely with other construction professionals such as architects, structural engineers and quantity surveyors. They influence the architecture of a building and play a significant role on the sustainability and energy demand; with buildings accounting for around 50 per cent of all carbon emissions, you can play a significant role combating climate change.

As a BSE M&E Engineer you will be working with the project team to:

  • influence building engineering and design concepts and create design strategies
  • manage energy targets
  • manage and develop technical design
  • work with our supply chain partners developing bespoke solutions
  • produce engineering to structure coordinated drawings

Laing O’Rourke design and build some of the most innovative and complex engineering projects within the industry. Being part of these project teams as a BSE M&E Engineer will provide you with some of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences that will help to develop you as a professional and enable us to be part of how we shape our infrastructure for the future.

Laing O’Rourke provides generous support for progression towards chartership through both in house and external training. The expectation is to work towards becoming a Chartered member of The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers. As a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer you are expected to become a Chartered Member of either the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
