Assistant Environment Advisor

Location: Birmingham (Office-based with occasional site visits)

Join us as we help deliver one of the UK's most significant power infrastructure programmes. We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Environment Advisor to support our project team working on the Great Grid Upgrade, playing a key role in ensuring environmental excellence across our major infrastructure works.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their environmental career or looking to develop their skills within a fast-paced, forward-thinking delivery team. The role will be primarily office-based in our Birmingham office, focusing on desktop delivery tasks for the Great Grid Upgrade projects (GGP), with occasional support for GGP projects during early works, including on-site involvement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop environmental documentation including EMPs, Waste Management Plans, procedures, RAMS, and supporting materials.
  • Prepare and deliver environmental training content such as inductions, toolbox talks, posters, and training packages.
  • Create Environmental Management System (EMS) tools including forms, registers, and reporting templates.
  • Set up and maintain environmental filing systems and digital folders (e.g., SharePoint, Asite).
  • Support data entry and monthly reporting activities including fuel and water consumption, waste data, environmental monitoring registers, and ECoW findings.
  • Assist with early works/ECI and pre-construction activities, including preparing environmental consent applications.
  • Support procurement teams to embed sustainability within the supply chain.
  • Conduct site visits to carry out inspections, deliver environmental training, and support incident investigations where required.
  • Provide general environmental support and complete ad-hoc tasks as needed.

  • Has a passion for environmental management and sustainability.
  • Is organised, proactive, and confident working across multiple tasks.
  • Has strong communication skills and enjoys working within a collaborative project environment.
  • Has some experience in an environmental / sustainability role, though support and development opportunities will be provided.
